V-Hawks Claim Team Title at All-American invite

DECORAH, Iowa – The Viterbo University Women's Cross Country opened their 2022 season at the Luther All-American Invite on Saturday. The V-Hawks claimed the team title, coming in first of seven teams with a score of 56.

Augustana (Ill.) came in second with 58 points, and Kimberly Horner of the Luther Alumni was the individual champion with a time of 19:34.3.  

Madelyn Adam was the top performer for the V-Hawks, finishing in 21:01.6, which was good enough for seventh place, just ahead of her teammate Brenna McDonough in eight place with a time of 21:08.3. Anya Hirsch and Hannah Butler came in 13th (21:28.2) and 14th (21:38.5) respectively. Vanessa Thomas was the final scorer for Viterbo, in 19th place at 21:59.5.

Viterbo's runners had a total time of 1:47:16, an average of 21:28and a spread of 0:58.0.

Tori Gerber was 22nd, just seven seconds later than Thomas. Megan Scheuer was 47th (24:09), Bernadette Frisch was 53rd (24:52.8), Jerica Mueller was came in 55th (25:05.4), and Maria Grater was just 00.2 seconds behind her in 56th. Kaitlyn Wrage was 58th (25:35.9), Rebecca York was 61st (25:59.6), and Madie Oslon was the final V-Hawk in 65th at 27:06.0.

The V-Hawks return to action Saturday, September 24 at the Pioneer Gender Equity Invitational.
