Dammer Scores, but V-Hawks Drop Season Opener

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team dropped their home season opener 1-3 to Morningside University (Iowa) on Thursday evening. The V-Hawks start the season 0-1, while the Mustangs jump out to a 1-0 start.

Molly Ripley would save two shots on goal from the Mustangs in the first 10 minutes, but LisAnn Evert would bet by her in the 13th minute on an assist from Lily Sidel. Hadley Dammer would quickly respond, putting in a header off a Jenna Bennett corner kick in the 16th minute. Keyera Harmon put MU back up at 23:23 with an unassisted goal, but Ripley saved two more goals to keep the match within one going into the break.

Carsen Desens and Ella Herman each had shots on goal of their own, but couldn't score. Ellie Gengler put in a close goal off the rebound of Evert's shot that hit the post, and the Mustangs would claim the 1-3 win.

Isabel Ter Weeme (W, 1-0) recorded three saves, while Molly Ripley (L, 0-1) had five and Vriens had three.
