Morningside takes down V-Hawks in season opener

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Mustangs women's soccer got the season started on the right foot, tallying a 3-1 win over Viterbo in La Crosse, Wisconsin Thursday afternoon.
Morningside got on the board early with a 14th minute goal from LisAnn Evert, assisted by Lily Sidel. Viterbo evened the match with a 17th minute goal, but the draw didn't last for long, as six-and-a-half minutes later, Keyera Harmon, the team's leading scorer from 2022, got her first goal of the 2023 season.
Ellie Gengler added an 82nd minute goal to give Morningside the multi-goal victory to open the season.
Harmon tallied four shots on goal in the game and Roselynn Bosman and Ellie Barber added two each. In goal, Isabel Ter Weeme recorded three saves in the win.
Morningside returns home to face Bellevue Tuesday night.
