V-Hawks Finish Second at NSAA Conference Meet

MADISON, SD  - The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet came to an end on Friday evening, and  Viterbo came in second place with 196.75 points.

Dickinson State (ND) took the team title with 272.75 points, while Dakote State (SD) was third with 187.75 points.

Claudia Schunk would take home the gold medal in the 100, finishing in 12.12 seconds. She was also a part of the conference champion 4x100 relay team alongside Kaylee McLeod, Ashley Veronen and Braylee Hyatt, who won with a time of 48340 seconds.

Hyatt came in second in the 100 dash at 12.23, Olivia Wingo was third at 12.29, and Grace Peyron was seventh at 12.61.

 Peyron was also the conference champion in the long jump, with a leap of 5.50m (18'0.5"), and sixth in the 200 (26.57). Joining her in the long jump included Wingo (5th, 5.35m, 17'6.75"), Lillia Chvatal (6th, 5.33m, 17'6"), and Hyatt (7th, 5.32m, 17'5.5").

Schunk earned the silver medal in the 200, finishing in 25.86, Hyatt was 5th with a time of 26.49, and Pearla Teko-Folly was eighth at 26.81.

Wingo also claimed a second place medal, clearing 1.55m (5'1") in the high jump, followed by Teko-Folly in seventh at the same height, but separated by attempts.

Tori Gerber took second place in a pair of events, including the 800 (2:25.59) and the 1,500 (5:01.81). Hannah Butler would take 7th in the 1,500 at 5:33.30. Gerber was also fourth in the 5,000, and ahead of her was fellow V-Hawk Vanessa Thomas in third at 20:35.71.

The final V-Hawks to medal included Kaylie Wiedmeyer taking third in the discus throw with a mark of 39.44m (129'5"), and the 4x400 relay team of Hyatt, Schunk, Mackenzie Geers, and Lainey Teynor in third at 4:09.78.
