Tiger's Stifling Defense Ends V-Hawks Tournament Run

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team, the #7 seed in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, had their season come to an end on Tuesday night, following a 3-0 loss to #3 seeded Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.). The V-Hawks end the year with a 7-6-6 (5-4-2 CCAC) record, while the Tigers improve to 11-3-4 (8-1-2 CCAC) and look ahead to the CCAC Championship game against top-seeded St. Ambrose University (Iowa).

After early shots hit the post and were blocked, Olivet scored in the seventh minute on an unassisted goal by Keeley Francis. Goalie Veerle Vriens recorded two quick saves around the 29 minute mark, and two more in the 32nd minute. The Tigers kept the pressure on, and scored their second goal on a penalty kick by Skylar Bos at 41:46.

Jenna Bennett took the V-Hawks first shot of the game in the 46th minute, but the attempt went wide right. Vriens recorded three more saves as ONU's offense kept getting shots off, and in the 83rd minute, Abbey Cash found Annabel Murley for the Tigers third goal of the day.

Olivet Nazarene outshot the V-Hawks 20-1, with 1- on goal. Vriens totaled seven saves.
