Ripley Records Career-High 12 Saves in Loss

JOLIET, Ill. – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team had their four-game winning streak snapped in a 2-1 loss to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks fall to 7-3-5 (5-2-2 CCAC) on the year, while the Saints improve to 6-6-5 (6-2-3 CCAC).

Viterbo took three shots in the first two minutes of the match, but none of them landed on goal. The Saints answered with two quick shots in the 17th minute, and in the 19th, Jenna Bennett landed the first attempt on goal, but it was saved by Krystal Rodriguez. Molly Ripley would record her first save two minutes later, and while each team managed two more shots in the half, none would find the net.

In the first 10 minutes of the second half, USF had four attempts be saved by Ripley, and another go high. Hadley Dammer had another on target shot for Viterbo in the 63rd minute, but the Saint kept the pressure on, with four more shots on goal over the next four minutes. St. Francis would finally convert in the 70th minute with a goal by Kelly Flores, quickly followed by Litzy Mendez in the 71st minute. Brooke Clements would find Isabel Henry in the 80th minute to close the lead to one, but Viterbo would not manage another shot in the contest.

Dammer led the V-Hawks with eight total shots, while four different players had an attempt on goal. Mendez had a match high eight shots with five on goal. Molly Ripley (L, 4-3-2) had 12 saves, while Krystal Rodriguez (W, 5-6-4) had two.

The V-Hawks return to action on Tuesday, October 24 as they host St. Ambrose University (Iowa) in their final home game of the year.
