V-Hawks Fall on the Road

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team dropped a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) matchup on the road at Holy Cross College (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks fall to 3-2-5 (1-1-2 CCAC), while the Saints improve to 4-6-1 (2-2-1 CCAC).

Jenna Bennett would take the first shot of the match for the V-Hawks at 3:28, but the Saints would take six of the first seven shots of the game, with Veerle Vriens recording one save. Kassidi Puthoff scored the first goal of the game at 30:43, assisted by Nicole Cook. Rachel Gomez would then make it 2-0 with a goal in the 43rd minute, assisted by Olivia Shaw. Brooke Clements had a shot on goal right before the end of the half, but it was saved by Taylor Primack.

Molly Ripley took over in the goal in the second half, and recorded a save in the 60th minute. She recorded another in the 78th minute, but the Saints scored again in the 80th minute. Maya Bubbers answered with a goal at 80:44, and Rachel Kinney had a final shot stopped by Primack in the final minute.

Three V-Hawks recorded shots on goal, and Shaw led all players with three. Ripley had three saves, Vriens had two, and Primack had two.

The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, October 7 as they host Judson (Ill.).
