Eight women's soccer players earn CAC recognition

The Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) announced its postseason award winners and all-conference teams today. The Viterbo Women's Soccer team had eight players receive conference recognition after going 10-5 on the season and getting the second seed in the CAC tournament.

Lauren Wedig was named CAC Newcomer-of-the-Year as well as First-Team All-Conference. Wedig scored eight goals on the season, which was second on the team, and had two assists. Her 18 points for the season ranked ninth in the CAC. 

Abbey Kellner was name CAC First-Team All-Conference, marking the second all-conference selection of her career. Kellner scored one goal and had one assist for the season. She was a critical part of the V-Hawk defense that allowed a conference-best 17 goals for the season.

Sydney King was named First-Team All-Conference for the fourth consecutive year. King scored 4 goals on the season and dished up three assists on the year.

Abigail Mumm earned the second all-conference selection of her career, landing on First Team. Mumm led the CAC with 15 goals and 30 total points for the season. 

Carsen Desens earned Second-Team All-Conference recognition in her second season with the V-Hawks. Desens scored one goal and had two assists on the season. She was key in the V-Hawk defense and was named CAC Defender-of-the-Week on October 12 for her efforts.

Aimee Kemper was named Second-Team All-Conference for the first time in her career. Kemper scored one goal and had four assists on the season.

Jenna Bennett was named to the CAC Second Team in her first season with the V-Hawks. Bennett scored one goal on the season and was ranked second in the CAC with five assists on the year.

In her first season, Bergen Beversdorf earned Honorable Mention recognition for her performance in the goal this year. Beversdorf led the CAC, allowing only 1.28 goals against her this year. She also had a .707 save percentage, which was fourth in the CAC, and was named CAC Defender-of-the-Week on September 28.
