MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa - The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team faced Iowa Wesleyan in their final regular-season game on Sunday. The V-Hawks defeated the Tigers, 6-2.
Abigail Mumm struck first for the V-Hawks, scoring in the 6th minute off a pass from Lauren Wedig. Wedig scored a minute and a half later and Mumm scored the third goal of the game for Viterbo. Iowa Wesleyan scored in the 29th minute and the V-Hawks went into the break up 3-1.
After halftime, it took Iowa Wesleyan five minutes to score their second goal to cut the Viterbo lead to only one. However, Wedig found the back of the net again to begin a 3-0 scoring run for the V-Hawks. Rachel Kinney scored Viterbo's fifth goal and Alexie Stephani knocked it in to secure the V-Hawk win.
Viterbo outshot Iowa Wesleyan 24-12. Mumm finished the game with six shots, four on goal, and two goals. Wedig finished with seven shots with six on goal, two goals, and an assist. Bergen Beversdorf and Anna Becker shared the duties at goalie for Viterbo. Beversdorf played 84 minutes and Becker contributed six minutes of play. Beversdorf had four saves and Becker had one of her own.
The V-Hawks finished their regular season 10-4 and will travel to Lawrenceville, Georgia for the Conference Tournament which will take place November 12-13. Follow viterboathletics.com or our social media pages for more details.
