LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo Women's Soccer team faced DIII University of Wisconsin-Stout on Saturday as a part of Parent and Senior Day for the V-Hawks. Viterbo defeated Stout 2-1 in an exciting game all the way to the end.
The game saw a scoreless, but competitive first half of play. Right after halftime, the V-Hawks struck first thanks to a headed goal by Abigail Mumm off of a corner taken by Jenna Bennett. It didn't take long for Stout to reply, scoring in the 52nd minute when their striker took a touch around the keeper.
In the 57th minute, the third and final goal was scored after great wing play by Aimee Kemper resulted in a powerful header by Mumm to improve the V-Hawks record to 7-2.
Goalkeeper Bergen Beversdorf had three saves from four shots on goal in the 90 minutes of action. Both teams were evenly matched in terms of stats, with Viterbo out-shooting Stout, 12-9.
The V-Hawks are back in action on Tuesday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for a 6:00 pm CST kick-off.
