V-Hawks Fall in Day 2

CANTON, Mo. – The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team fell in day two of the Culver Classic to Missouri Valley on Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks fall to 1-1 while the Vikings rise to 2-0.

Nicole Johnson would score four of the first six points of the game for the V-Hawks. While Lauryn Goettl would take a three and a free throw, keeping the first quarter neck and neck.

Taking the lead, Emily McCurdy would drive for the basket collecting an and one off the layup, though Johnson would come back with the defensive rebound drawing yet another foul from the Vikings shooting 50% from the free throw line, off the put back Pearla Teko-Folly would score before heading into the half.

Macy Stellner would find Johnson under the basket to open the third quarter, followed by a Johnson steal for a fast break, Marley Hughes finding the hoop. With MVU making a comeback Madison Hugdahl would put up four points in the battle for the lead, though Johnson would take the final shot of the quarter making a free throw.

Stellner once again leading the charge in the fourth quarter six of the V-Hawks 10 points, before Johnson would make the final two baskets of the game.

Johnson led the V-Hawks with 14 points and McCurdy had 8 points. Giavanna Moore led the Vikings with 19.

The V-ikings outshot the V-Hawks from the floor, 39.6%-36.7%, from outside the arc the Vikings also outshot 33.3%-28.6%. The V-Hawks outrebounded the Vikings 43-34 and led with 26 turnovers to the Vikings 19.

The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, November 2, as they take on Missouri Valley in Day 2 of the Culver Classic.
