(RV) Warriors and Cougars Take Games from V-Hawks

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Viterbo University Softball team traveled to Indiana Tech on Saturday, dropping games to (RV) Indiana Tech, 8-0, and Saint Francis (Ind.), 9-1.

After two V-Hawks were stranded on base in the top of the first, the Warriors scored two runs on a hit and an error. They recorded three hits in the second to score four more runs, extending the lead to 6-0. Alexis Watson singled in the fifth, but two more IT runs in the sixth ended the game, 8-0.

Watson had the only hit for the V-Hawks, while Alina Garstka reached on a walk. Eight different Warriors recorded hits. Alexis Watson recorded the loss, while Savannah Bravo posted a complete game win.

Against Saint Francis, the Cougars took an early lead after a sacrifice fly in the first, and extended it with five runs on five hits in the third. Two more runs came in the fourth after three hits and a Viterbo error. After two V-Hawks were hit by pitches in the fifth, Sydney Haakenson recorded a sacrifice fly to bring in Chelsie Paulsen to get VU on the board. Though two more hits led to another SFU run to end the game, 9-1.

Megan Jardine recorded the lone hit for Viterbo , while Macie Dowd had four for Saint Francis. Grace Elton (L, 0-1) struck out two batters, while Alexa Huth (W, 1-0) had four in 5.0 IP. Ellie Sauder earned the save.

Viterbo plays one more game against Indiana Tech on Sunday.
