V-Hawks fall to Bruins in NSAA opening series

OMAHA, Neb. – The Viterbo University Softball team opened up North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) play over the weekend at Bellevue University. The team played double-headers on both Saturday and Sunday, falling to the Bruins on both days. 

Morgan James had a strong weekend for the V-Hawks, collecting six hits in 11 at-bats with a triple and an RBI. Brittney Slocum complimented James with three hits in six at-bats on Saturday, including a triple and two runs scored. Maddie Wilkey carried the load on the mound for Viterbo, pitching 5.1 innings on Saturday in her start, collecting three strikeouts, before coming on in relief on Sunday and pitching another 3.1 innings. Wilkey also collected two hits in the final game of the four-game series, including a double.

The Viterbo Softball team is scheduled to make their home debut on Tuesday afternoon against Martin Luther College. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM CDT at the Viterbo Outdoor Athletics Complex. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
