Bees Sting V-Hawks in Three
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball fell in their second conference matchup with St. Ambrose University 3-0 Thursday evening (25-18, 25-17, 25-23). The V-Hawks sink to 3-21 (CCAC 0-6), while the Fighting Bees rise to 12-11 (CCAC 5-2).
On the jump in the first set with three points Riley Connors would take a kill followed by Styrk Myhre with a solo block at the net, and a kill from Ethan Davis stealing a set up from the Bees. Alex and Justin Kratzenstein also hard at the net with the next kills and a block together tying up the set again. Holding the Bees at set point, Logan Amdur would set up Myhre and Davis for kills before the Bees would take the set.
Connors taking the opening kill of set two from Max Dugan before J Kratzenstein would smack down a kill ending a three point attack by SAU. Down after a timeout the V-Hawks would send past two more kills from Connors and Davis before an error would end set two.
Needing to take a set the V-Hawks found Myhre at the net for a kill and a block alongside A Kratzenstein, shortly followed by another kill by Connors and Myhre. Burton Bosan Jr. on the serve, the V-hawks would go on a five point run with a kill by Davis and a block by Amdur and J Kratzenstein. VU with a narrow lead would set up Myhre for the next kills, Amdur also taking a kill before the end of the set.
Davis led the V-Hawks with eight kills, Amdur set up 21 assists, and Dugan took nine digs. Pedro Zang led the Bees with 15 kills.
The V-Hawks return to action Saturday, March 22 for the final home tri-match of the season against Calumet and Maranatha Baptist.
