V-Hawks Fall in Quarterfinal

LA CROSSE, Wis – The #4 Viterbo University Men's Soccer team fell to #5 Olivet Nazarene on Thursday afternoon 1-0. The V-Hawks finish their season with a record of 6-6-4 (CCAC 5-2-4) while the Tigers rise to 9-4-2 (CCAC 6-2-2).

The V-Hawks would take the defensive early in the match, with ONU dominating possession. Goalkeeper Ernesto Ascenzo would record his first save of the day in the ninth minute, Ascenzo would record another save though on the rebound the Tigers would find the back of the net. Gaining possession of the ball Alexis Rangel would record the V-Hawks first shot on goal though the Tiger's keeper would snag the save before heading into the half.

Ascenzo would once again defend the goal with a save only two minutes into the second half before punting the ball for Joaquin Eichhorn to take a shot landing high. A few short minutes later Eichhorn would take another shot landing on goal. In the 56^th minute Conner Erdmann would take a corner kick with a header by Eichhorn to follow landing wide. Nicolas Lopez would find the ball landing on goal tough unsuccessful. In the 89^th minute Ascenzo would take a free kick from near half ending with a shot landing just right of goal.

The V-Hawks took 11 shots with five landing on goal, while the Tigers took 12 shots 6 landing on goal. Viterbo goalkeeper Ascenzo recorded five saves on the day.
