Ascenzo Named National Defensive Player of the Week
KANAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA has officially announced its latest edition of their National Men's Soccer Players of the Week, and Viterbo's Ernesto Ascenzo has been selected as the National Defensive Player of the Week. This is his first time earning the award.
Ascenzo lead the V-hawks in a 2-0 week, with wins over St. Ambrose (IA) and Olivet Nazarene (IL), where he dominated with 15 saves against Olivet, and an additional four against St Ambrose. On the week he recorded 19 saves, and not letting up a single goal, recording two shut outs.
Ascenzo is the first V-Hawk to be named Defensive Player of the week in program history.
Viterbo returns to the pitch Thursday, November 7 as they host Olivet Nazarene in the CCAC Conference Tournament.
