ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team lost 3-0 to Roosevelt University (Ill.) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) battle on Wednesday night in a match that ended with 18:02 remaining on the clock. The V-Hawks fall to 6-4-5 (3-3-2CCAC) on the year, while the Lakers improve to 7-5-1 (6-2-0 CCAC).

The V-Hawks would quickly put themselves at a disadvantage after drawing a red card for denying a goal scoring opportunity in the second minute. Santiago Tellez landed a shot on goal in the fourth minute, but it was saved by Eric Carvajal. Following Ernesto Ascenzo's first save in the 24th minute, the Lakers cashed in on their advantage with a goal by Ryusei Ogawa, assisted by Sebastian Rodriguez. Alfie Gyurkovits landed another shot on target at 31:04, but following another RU save, the Lakers took five more shots on goal to end the half, four saved by Ascenzo and one by Marcelo Puertas.

The Lakers continued the pressure on Viterbo in the second, with two more shots on goal saved by Ascenzo before extending their lead to 2-0 at 53:40 on a goal by Alan Rubio assisted by Ogawa, which led to another Viterbo red card. Now playing two men up, Roosevelt continued their offensive attack, with three more saves by VU before the third goal was let in on a goal by Oswaldo Perez, the assist from Rubio. Ascenzo would record two more saves before a red card was given to Viterbo's Head Coach, leading to the match being abandoned due to lack of coaches for the V-Hawks.

The Lakers outshot the V-Hawks 26-4 (16-3 on goal). Ernesto Ascenzo (L, 5-3-5) matched his career high of 12 saves, while Eric Carvajal (W, 6-4-0) had three saves.

The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, October 21 as they travel to University of St. Francis (Ill.).
