V-Hawks Fall Short in Non-Conference Matchup

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks fell short on Wednesday night when they hosted the Luther Norse of Decorah. Through forty minutes of play, the V-Hawks struggled to keep up with the Norse, eventually falling 84-69. With the loss, the V-Hawks fall to 2-8 overall. The Luther Norse end their four-game losing streak, improving to 5-4 on the season. 

Both offensively and defensively, Colin Adams controlled the floor for the V-Hawks side. Adams earned another 20 point performance, his third of the year. In addition to his strong offensively presence, Adams picked up a team-high seven rebounds on the night. Landon Thousand grabbed four boards while Braden Crubel, Treyton Fletcher, and Jack Voight each picked up three. Thousand contributed significantly to the offensive efforts as well, adding six assists to the tally. Braden Crubel picked up double-digit scoring with 13 points. 

As a team, the V-Hawks picked up 21 rebounds to Luther's 37. The Norse out-shot the V-Hawks from all locations on the court, going nearly 40% from the three. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first score for the V-Hawks came on a Kole Johnson dunk
  • The Norse took the early 12-7 lead
  • The Norse held the lead for most of the first half
  • Colin Adams tied the game at 18-18 after a layup and made free throws
  • The V-Hawks secured a lead at 23-21 after a Jack Hennessy three-pointer
  • The Norse took back the lead at 33-29
  • The V-Hawks responded, tying it at 33-33 after some Kole Johnson scoring
  • The Norse pulled away, going into halftime with the 43-35 lead over the V-Hawks
  • Out of the half, the V-Hawks fought back within four points of the Norse
  • The Norse continued to extend their lead, going up 59-48 with 12 minutes remaining
  • The V-Hawks got the game back within six with eight minutes remaining
  • The Norse pulled away with a 7-0 scoring run
  • The V-Hawks continued making last-chance efforts, but the Norse ended up securing the 84-69 victory

The V-Hawks will return to their home court on Saturday, December 13th. They will face off against the Judson Eagles. Tip off is set for 3pm.
