LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team won in their rematch with St Ambrose University Thursday evening 85-74. The V-Hawks rise to 8-16 (6-11 CCAC) while the Fighting Bees sink to 14-10 (7-10 CCAC).
Cole Crubel opened the game with a hot three from Lydell King, before King taking the three for himself and passing over the assist for Landon Thousand. Another three threes coming from Lukas Hoffman for two and finding Kole Johnson for a third. Jack Voight in the paint would score the layup before turning the next play around drawing the foul and knocking down both free throws.
The V-Hawks up by three coming out of the second half shift on offense, King draining a three, Crubel hitting another less than a minute later. King driving in the lane would draw the and one followed by Colin Adams scoring another five points for VU. Drawing two more fouls King would take to the line knocking down all four before the buzzer sounded.
King led the V-Hawks with 20 and Thousand with 13. Atem Agot led the Fighting Bees with 21 points.
The V-Hawks outshot the Fighting Bees from the floor 54% to 44.1% and from three 70% to 28.6%, though committed more turnovers 10-7.
The V-Hawks return to action Saturday February 15 at Indiana South Bend.
