V-Hawks take Third at CCAC Championship, Gerber Qualifies for Nationals
BETTENDORF, Iowa. – The Viterbo University Women's Cross Country team ran in the 2024 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. The V-Hawks finished third out of eight teams with 91 points.
Olivet Nazarene University (IL) won the CCAC crown with 33 points, Aleigha Garrison of Olivet was the individual champion with a time of 22:09.0.
Tori Gerber was the top performer for the V-Hawks, finishing in fifth place with a time of 22:39.3, a personal best for Gerber. Finishing top-10 earned her All-Conference, while being a top-four finisher not on the championship team qualified her to ran as an individual at the NAIA National Championship meet in Colombia, Mo on November 22.
Vanessa Thomas also earned All-Conference honors, finishing tenth with a time of 23:11.7.
Casey Reynolds would be the next finisher for the V-Hawks coming in 18th with a time of 23:46.1, Hannah Butler would follow with a time of 24:50.7 in 27th place. Freshman, Samantha Berndt would be the final scorer for Viterbo, placing 41st with a time of 25:24.6.
AJ Murphy pacing with Berndt finished a second behind in 42nd place at 25:25.6. In 46th place, Jolie Jaeger would finish with a time of 25:44.4. Bernadette Fritsch, the next V-Hawk finisher with a time of 28:23.7 taking 69th place, followed by Kayla Solberg in 74th place at 29:01.5. The Final VU finisher coming in 82nd place would be Olivia Cox with a time of 32:04.3.
