V-Hawks Top Tigers
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Volleyball took down Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Tuesday evening (25-10, 25-22, 25-12). The V-Hawks rise at 13-8 (CCAC 5-0) while the Tigers fall to 6-12 (CCAC 2-2).
Kenidi McCabe with a service ace would start off the match for the V-Hawks, though the Tigers would take the next two kills. The V-Hawks would take a six point run midway through the set with kills by Martina McGrath, Izzy Jahr, and a block by the duo. Jada Mitchell with a kill from Cailie Kowal would put the V-Hawks in position for another five point run ending set one.
The V-Hawks would battle for the lead in the beginning of set two with a volley for the score pushed along by Mitchell. Mikaela Marquardt with a service ace would take the lead for the V-Hawks, quickly followed by a kill by Sadie Treptow from McCabe. The Tigers would keep the game close until Mitchell and Treptow would take back to back blocks widening the gap to take set two.
McGrath would pounce on the first point of the third set from Maddie Connor, to then set up Mitchell for the second kill of the set. While McCabe was on service the V-Hawks would go on a four point run with a Treptow kills and an ace from McCabe herself. Kowal would take the final assist of the match with a kill from Grace Peyron.
Mitchell led the V-Hawks with 16 kills (.727), while Connor and Kowal supplied 20 assists each. McCabe took 22 digs while the Tiger's Helle Nicholas led with 7 kills and Ella Johnson led with 9 assists.
The V-Hawks return to action Thursday September 26th at home as they take on Trinity Christian.
