Women's Volleyball Final Four Preview

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Viterbo University Women's Volleyball team is set to play in the semifinal round of the NAIA National Tournament against Northwestern College (Iowa) on Monday night at 5 PM.

The Teams

  • No. 5 Viterbo University V-Hawks, La Crosse, Wis. 34-4
  • No. 1 Northwestern College Red Raiders, Orange City, Iowa, 30-2
  • No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats, Marian, Ind. 36-0
  • No. 3 Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers, La Grande, Ore. 34-1

Viterbo

  • The V-Hawks are making their six appearance in the national semifinals, and their first since 2019
  • Kenzie Winker ranks #6 in the NAIA with 540 kills
  • Grace Rohde is 13th with 493
  • Jada Mitchell is 8th in hitting percentage at .370, and 14th in blocks with 138
  • Kenidi McCabe ranks #8 with 666 digs
  • Maddie Connor is top 20 with 1115 assists

Northwestern

  • This is the Red Raiders first ever appearance in the semifinal round
  • Zavyr Metzger leads the NAIA with 214 blocks (41 solo)
  • Jazlin De Haan leads the team with 477 kills (15th in NAIA)
  • Olivia Granstra has recorded 610 digs (18th)

Indiana Wesleyan

  • This is the Wildcats first trip to the semifinals
  • IWU is the only remaining undefeated team in the NAIA
  • Candace Moats has the most career wins of any active coach (982)
  • Abbigail Porter has the third most assists in the NAIA this year with 1439
  • Eva Joldersma's 543 kills is fifth most in the NAIA
  • Marissa Mullins leads the team with 130 blocks (21st in NAIA)

Eastern Oregon

  • The Mountaineers make their second consecutive trip to the national semifinals
  • EOU is currently on a 23 match win streak
  • Kiauna Mack is Top-10 in blocks with 139, 125 assisted
  • Four different player have recorded over 230 kills

Matchup

  • Northwestern beat Viterbo 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 21-25, 26-24, 12-15) in La Crosse on 9/26
  • Winker had 22 kills, Mitchell had 13 on .375 hitting %, Rohde had 12, and McGrath had 10 for the V-Hawks
  • De Haan had 27 kills, and Alysen Dexter had 21
  • Maddie Connor dished 28 assists, and Cailie Kowal added 24
  • Liv Reitsma recorded 37 assists for NWC, while Logan Miller had 25
  • Kenidi McCabe led four V-Hawks with double digit digs with 29
  • Granstra led all players with 34 digs
