Womens Volleyball Heads to Sioux City for National Tournament Final Site

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Viterbo University Women's Volleyball team, ranked #9 in the final NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll, is heading to Sioux City, Iowa for the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament Final Site. The V-Hawks earned an automatic bid into the National Tournament after winning the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Conference Tournament, and won their opening round match, in which they hosted Point Park University (Pa.), 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-20).

24 teams advanced to the final site, which consists of two portions, pool play and bracket play. The teams have been split into eight pools of three teams based on the seeding that was set by the selection committee, and pool play starts on Wednesday, November 30. Following the conclusion of pool play on December 2, the winner of each pool will advance to bracket play. Single-elimination bracket play games will be played on December 3, 4, and 6.

Viterbo, who comes to Sioux City with a 29-7 record, was placed in a pool with #16 Columbia College (Mo.) (27-10) and #12 Missouri Baptist University (30-3). Missouri Baptist returns to the final site as the two-time defending National Champions, Viterbo makes their ninth straight appearance at the final site, and Columbia returns for the first time since 2019.

The three teams have all already met this season, as the V-Hawks swept the Cougars 3-0 (25-23, 25-29, 25-23) at Viterbo's home tournament on October 14, but fell 0-3 (19-25, 19-25, 18-25) to the Spartans at their tournament on August 25. Columbia and Missouri Baptist are both a part of the American Midwest Conference and therefore have already met three times this season. MBU took the first match, 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-22), CC took the second 3-1 (29-27, 26-24, 16-25, 25-21), and Missouri Baptist broke the tie, 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 24-26, 25-22), in the AMC Conference Tournament Championship Match.

Viterbo is set to take on Columbia on Thursday, December 1 at 7 PM and Missouri Baptist on Friday, December 2 at 7 PM. To follow all results from Sioux City, click here.
