V-Hawks Sweep the Saints at Home

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo Women's Volleyball team, ranked #8 in the most recent NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll, hosted the Presentation College Saints and honored their graduating seniors at the R.W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium Friday evening. The V-Hawks swept the Saints 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-19). Viterbo finishes the night 22-6 overall and 9-0 in league play while Presentation drops 15-14 overall and 5-9 in conference.

The Saints got a head start in set one leading 5-8 with tow kills by Maggie Heesch. Grace Rohde helped Viterbo gain the lead 15-11 contributing four kills in a row. After a timeout by the Saints, the V-Hawks continued their lead with kills by Kenzie Winker and Jada Mitchell to make it 18-13. Two kills by Winker and Mariah Calkins along with a service ace by Maddie Connor helped the V-Hawks to come out on top in set one 25-14.

A service ace by Kenidi McCabe helped the V-Hawks gain momentum early on in set two leading 9-6. The Saint's couldnt keep up with the V-Hawks allowing two kills by Winker and a block assist by Calkins and Marissa Kleman bringing the score to 14-8. Senior, Adrianna Reinhart contributed two service aces while the V-Hawks soared past Presentation 21-8. The Saint's fought back scoring four points in a row but the V-Hawks answered back with a kill by Mitchell and Martina McGrath to top Presentation in set two, 25-14.

Set three would put Viterbo up at the start 9-5 with Mitchell and Kleman each adding two kills. The two team traded points before Viterbo stretched their lead 17-12 with block assists by Mitchell and McGrath forcing a Presentation timeout. The Saint's got within three points of Viterbo but kills by Mitchell, Winker, and Rohde combined would put the V-Hawks on top 25-19.

V-Hawks senior Lauren Sobasky ended the night with 22 assists and 7 digs. Kenzie Winker led the team in kills with 11 followed by Mitchell and Rohde with 10. Senior libero Adrianna Reinhart recorded 13 digs for the night. Calkins and Kleman led the team with 3 block assits each.

Grace Tobin led the Saints with 11 kills while Sydney Miller contributed 15 assists. Laura Babcock recorded 14 digs for the night. Kerstin Knopik led the team with 3 block assists. 

The V-Hawks will continue to compete at home going up against Mayville State University on Saturday, October 22 at 1:00PM CST. Viterbo Women's Volleyball will also host their annual alumni game on Saturday at 10:00AM CST.
