Women's Volleyball kicks off nationals with sweep over IU-South Bend
LA CROSSE, Wis. - Viterbo University hosted the Opening Round game of the NAIA National Women's Volleyball Tournament on Saturday evening. Viterbo hosted the Indiana University-South Bend Titans. The V-Hawks won 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-16).
Viterbo never trailed in set one or two and, despite some back-and-forth in set three, four quick kills in six points from Grace Rohde propelled the V-Hawks ahead of the Bobcats to secure the match win. Viterbo produced better swings offensively as the match went on, ending the night with a .471 hitting percentage in set three.
Maya Roberts had a team-high 16 kills and a hitting percentage of .600. Rohde was right behind her with 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .550. Abbey Johnson contributed 25 assists and Lauryn Sobasky added 19 of her own. Adrianna Reinhart recorded 15 digs on the night.
The V-Hawks will travel to Sioux City, Iowa to begin NAIA National Tournament Pool Play, which starts on November 30. Viterbo will find out on Sunday by 5:00 p.m. CST who they will face. Follow viterboathletics.com for updates or follow us on social media.
