V-Hawks win five-set thriller to claim regular-season conference title

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The No. 2 Viterbo University Women's Volleyball team won a come-from-behind five-set thriller against the No. 11 Bellevue Bruins on Friday night at R. W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium. With the win, the V-Hawks won the regular-season conference title and will be the number one seed at Watertown next weekend for the conference tournament.

After starting 0-2 against the Bruins, Viterbo got a 12-5 lead in set three to get things going for the V-Hawks. Once the momentum shifted to Viterbo, they were able to get the set three and four wins. Set five was very back-and-forth, with five different lead changes, three coming in the final six points. Ultimately, kills by Miah Garant and Kenzie Winker set up the final point, an attack error from Bellevue to win the game for the V-Hawks.

Garant recorded a team-high 23 kills and hit an impressive .513 in the match. Garant also recorded a total of eight block assists. Grace Rohde tallied 12 kills and Winker contributed 10 kills. Lauryn Sobasky had 34 assists in the game. Adrianna Reinhart had a team-high 18 digs. Kenidi McCabe and Winker were behind her with 11 digs.

The V-Hawks extended their win streak to 27 and improve to a perfect 13-0 in conference play.
