Two V-Hawks hit milestones as Viterbo goes 3-0 at Grand View Tournament

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Viterbo Women's Volleyball team (29-1) went 3-0 against three Top-25 teams over the weekend at the Grand View Tournament. The No. 2 ranked V-Hawks extended their winning streak to 22 games.

On Friday night, the V-Hawks swept No. 24 Grand View University (17-12) behind scores of 25-17, 25-21, and 20-25. Lauryn Sobasky eclipsed 2,500 career assists in the match. Viterbo had a balanced attack as Kenzie Winker and Miah Garant led the team with nine kills each. Katie Frohmader added seven kills, followed by Maya Roberts with six. Abbey Johnson dished out 20 assists while Sobasky added 17. Garant also had a whopping 11 total blocks, while Adrianna Reinhart collected 15 digs. 

On Saturday morning, the V-Hawks swept No. 19 Columbia College (21-6), 25-15, 25-23, and 27-25. Frohmader also reached a milestone in the match, hitting her 1,500th career kill. Frohmader led the team with 14 kills, followed by Roberts with 13 and Winker with 11. Johnson collected 22 assists and Sobasky added 21. Reinhart owned the back court, collecting a team-high 23 digs.

The V-Hawks then faced No. 17 Montana Tech (17-7) on Saturday afternoon, taking the match 3-1. Garant led the team with 17 kills and eight blocks. Winker added 11 kills of her own while Reinhart led with 13 digs. Johnson dished out 26 assists and Sobasky added 21.

The V-Hawks will be back on the road next weekend to resume NSAA play at Mayville State University. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM CDT. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
