V-Hawks sweep Dickinson in second conference game
DICKINSON, N.D. – The Viterbo Women's Volleyball team (20-1) improved to 2-0 in NSAA play Friday night as they swept Dickinson State University, 25-15, 25-16, and 25-19.
They V-Hawks opened set one on a 7-0 run and never looked back. With the score at 19-15, the V-Hawks scored five straight points to close out the set. The V-Hawks opened set two with a 4-0 lead to take control of the game. Up 20-12, the Blue Hawks of Dickinson State made a small push to get within five points, but Viterbo closed the set with a Kenzie Winker kill. Set three saw much tighter scores, with both teams trading points and neither team leading by more than three points deep into the set. However, tied at 19, a Katie Frohmader kill sparked a five-point V-Hawk run to seal the set and match.
The V-Hawks hit .300 as a team and collected 12 aces and 10 blocks. Maya Roberts led the team with 12 kills, followed by Miah Garant with 10. Abbey Johnson dished out a team-high 18 assists while Adrianna Reinhart added nine digs.
The V-Hawks will continue NSAA play tomorrow afternoon as they travel to face Valley City State University. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 PM CST. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
