Viterbo wins NSAA Conference Championship with comeback
BELLEVUE, Neb. - Third seeded (20) Viterbo University (13-7) saved two match points in the third set before battling back to claim the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Tournament title. Viterbo had a 3-2 (22-25, 21-25, 28-26, 26-24, 15-4) victory over top seeded (17) Bellevue University (16-5) Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. Viterbo earned an automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament. This will be Viterbo seventh-straight NSAA Tournament title.
Viterbo was led by Maya Roberts (SR/Watertown, Wis.) (19) and Grace Rohde (FR/Winona, Minn.) (13). The pair combined for a total of 32 kills. Kenzie Winker (SO/Holmen, Wis.) and Katie Frohmader (SR/Fort Atkinson, Wis.) had 12 and 9 kills respectively. Adrianna Reinhart (JR/Caledonia, Minn.) had 20 digs and Abbey Johnson (SO/Brodhead, Wis.) added 32 assists.
Viterbo is set to host the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament Saturday, April 17th. The V-Hawks opponent is To Be Determined and will be announced during the NAIA National Tournament Selection Show on Monday, April 12th at 10 AM.
