V-Hawks take down No. 12 Bellevue in four sets

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo Women's Volleyball team faced conference rival Bellevue on Friday night at R. W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium. Bellevue came into the game ranked No. 12 and undefeated in conference play. However, the V-Hawks came out victorious, defeating the Bruins in four sets (25-8, 26-28, 25-21, 25-13).

The V-Hawk women meant business right from the start, defeating Bellevue in a speedy first set. A serving run by Jade Putz (Sr. - Manchester, Iowa) had Viterbo up 10-1 early on. Bellevue pulled off the set two win, but not after multiple lead changes between the two teams. Viterbo secured the set three win and had a strong set four to win the match.

Viterbo had 51 kills (.218 hitting percentage), led by Kenzie Winker (So. - Holmen, Wis.) with 14 and Maya Roberts (Sr. - Watertown, Wis.) with 11. The V-Hawks had five aces on the night and did not allow for one Bruin ace throughout. The Viterbo defense also came up big at the net, tallying 12 total blocks. Setter Abbey Johnson (So. - Brodhead, Wis.) had 23 assists and Lauryn Sobasky (Jr. - Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) had 15 of her own.
