V-Hawks Finish Fifth at Phil Esten Challenge

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Track and Field team competed on Friday at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge placing fifth of 13 teams.

Leading off for the V-Hawks Olivia Wingo's A Standard 3.92m (12-10.25) vault would claim the individual crown, followed in eighth by Emma Johnson at 3.67m (12-00.5) reaching another B Standard vault. Wingo also competing in the 4x100m alongside Lillia Chvatal, Avery Poppe, and Braylee Hyatt for a fourth place finish at 48.29. Chvatal also clinching a third place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.36m (17-07).

Also in the field, the V-Hawks would have two scoring finishers in the triple jump, Pearla Teko-Folly with a jump of 11.06m (36-03.5) in second and Rhianna Robinson in fifth at 10.73m (35.02.5). Martina McGrath would clinch the final point in the javelin throw with a distance of 30.26m (99-03) placing eighth.

The 4x400m relay would also place fourth with a time of 4:13.80 including Teko-Folly, Lainey Teynor, Jillian Pergande, and Mackenzie Geers. Emily Ludwig placing eighth overall in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.91 would fall just two places behind Johnson at 14.80. The final top V-Hawk finisher came  from Tori Gerber in the 1,500m run clocking 4:45.08.

The V-Hawks return to action Wednesday April 23 for Drake Relays.
