V-Hawks Finish Sixth at UW-La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Track and Field team competed at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten challenge on Saturday. The V-Hawks finished sixth place out of 16 teams with 40 points.

Host UWL won the team title with 267 points.

Braylee Hyatt was the top performer for the V-Hawks, taking second in the 100 at 12.69 seconds, and fourth in the 4x100 relay alongside Lillia Chvatal, Kaylee McLeod, and Claudia Schunk, finishing in 49.17 seconds.

Olivia Wingo hit the NAIA "B" Standard in the Pole Vault, taking third with a height of 3.61m (11'10"). Emma Johnson and Emily Howell tied for fifth in the event, clearing 3.56m (11'4.25"). Wingo also took sixth in the high jump, tied with Pearla Teko-Folly, with a mark of 1.59m (5'2.5"). Johnson also recorded a time of 15.65 in the 100 meter hurdles, placing her sixth.

Other scorers for the V-Hawks included Vanessa Thomas taking seventh in the 5,000 meter run (18:55.70), Grace Peyron finishing seventh in the long jump (5.30m (17'4.75"), Teko-Folly placing seventh in the triple jump (11.09m (36'4.75")), and Kaylie Wiedmeyer recoding a throw of 38.85m (125'10") in the discus, taking seventh.

The V-Hawks return to action next weekend at the Drake University (Iowa) Relays.
