V-Hawks Round out Ole Opener
NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Viterbo University Men's Track and Field team competed in the Ole Opener at St. Olaf College Saturday.
Tori Gerber set a new school record in the 3,000m with a time of 10:22.76 and an 8th place finish.
Avery Poppe led the V-Hawks in the High jump with a height of 1.55m (5-01), followed by Olivia Wingo in second with the same height in one extra attempt. Poppe also took second in the long jump with a distance of 5.05m (16-07), Kaylee McLeod in third at 4.86m (15-11.50), and Braylee Hyatt in sixth with a jump of 4.73m (15-07.25).
Senior, Emma Johnson claimed the crown in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.37, while Poppe came in fifth at 10.00. Johnson landed in second place in pole vault at 3.45m (11-03.75, while Wingo placed first with a vault of 3.75m (12-03.50), rounding out the top three Izzy Keck came next with a height of 3.45m in one more attempt than Johnson.
On the track Hyatt took third in the 60m with a time of 8.18, Lainey Teynor placing second in the 600m at 1:48.62, and Vanessa Thomas claiming fifth with a time of 5:35.91 in the mile. Rhianna Robinson carried the V-Hawks in triple jump with a second place finish jumping 10.10m (33-01.75). Rounding out the field, Kaylie Wiedmeyer threw the shot put 11.25m (36-11) placing fourth.
The V-Hawks return to action Saturday January 25th at the UW-La Crosse Pat Healy Classic.
