V-Hawks Take Third at Red Hawk Invite

RIPON, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Track and Field team competed at the Ripon College Red Hawk Invite on Saturday, taking 3rd out of 11 teams with 105 team points.

UW-Oshkosh took the team title with 137 team points.

Emma Johnson left the meet with a pair of gold medals, including first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.24 and first in pole vault, clearing 3.48m (11'5") and hitting NAIA "B" standard.

Lillia Chvatal also claimed a gold medal in the long jump, leaping 5.45m (17'10.75") to go with a fourth place finish in the 60-meter with a time if 8.28.

Braylee Hyatt and Kaylee McLeod joined Chvatal in the 60, taking second (7.97) and third (8.25), respectively. Hyatt also scored in the 200, taking fifth with a mark of 26.96, and long jump with a leap of 5.12m (16'9.75") for seventh. McLeod was just behind her in eighth with a jump of 5.06m (16'7.25").

Olivia Wingo earned a silver medal in pole vault, clearing 3.33m (10'11"), and a bronze in high jump with a mark of 1.59m (2'.25").

Ashley Veronen collected a silver as well, finishing the 60-meter hurdles in 9.38 seconds, and scored in the 4x400 meter relay, taking fifth alongside Jayna Schema, Mackenzie Geers, and Claudia Schunk.

Emily Ludwig was the final V-Hawk to score in the 60-meter hurdles, taking fourth with her time of 9.76, while also taking fifth in the pole vault at 3.03m (9'11.25"), just behind teammate Emily Howell in fourth at the same height. Tori Gerber was fourth in the mile, finishing in 5:18.28, while Kaylie Wiedmeyer was fifth in the shot put, throwing 11.50m (37'8.75").

The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, February 10 at the Minnesota-Mankato Maverick Premier Meet #2.
