Two Pole Vaulters Podium at St. Olaf Invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Viterbo University Women's Track and Field team finished in fifth place out of 12 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational with 60 teams points on Saturday.

Gustavus Adolphus University (Minn.) claimed the team title with 118.5 points.

Emma Johnson was the top performer for Viterbo with a pair of medal finishes on the day. She took first in the Pole Vault, clearing 3.45m (11' 3.75"), then placed second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.27.

Emily Howell joined Johnson on the podium, taking third in the Pole Vault after clearing 3.05m (10'0"), and while Ashley Veronen and Emily Ludwig both scored in the 60 meter hurdles, taking third (9.54) and sixth (9.58), respectively.

Tori Gerber had a second place finish in the 1,000 meter run, 3:12.61, to go with her fifth place finish in the 600, 1:41.91. Hannah Butler's time of 2:36.59 in the 800 placed her fifth, while Vanessa Thomas took eighth in the 3,000 with a mark of 11:50.29.

Two V-Hawks scored in the 60 meter finals, as Braylee Hyatt took third with a time of 8.06, and Claudia Schunk placed sixth at 8.17. Hyatt also scored in the long jump, with her leap of 4.92m (16' 1.75") placing her seventh, while her teammate Lilllia Chvatal was third with a mark of 5.12m (16' 9.75").

Viterbo returns to action on Saturday, February 3 at the Ripon College Red Hawk Invite.
