V-Hawks Compete at UW-Stout

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Track and Field team competed at the Warren Bowlus Multi and Open Meet, hosted by UW-Stout on Saturday. The V-Hawks posted five total top-three finishes.

Breanna Ihde earned a gold medal in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.23. She also finished seventh in the 60-meter dash at 8.20 after posting the best time in the preliminaries, and second best time of anyone on the day, at 7.94.

Clair Shepardson ran the fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles, 9.23, beating second place by 0.12 seconds. She also leaped 4.29m (14-01.00) in the long jump for 13th place.

In the High Jump, Miranda Kendall finished second with a mark of 1.58m (5-02.25). Emma Johnson earned a bronze finish in the Pole Vault, clearing 3.43m (11-03.00) and passing NAIA "B" Standard, and also finishing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.58. Vanessa Thomas was third in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:47.61.

Ashley Veronen and Alexie Stephani were fourth and fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.53m (5-00.25) and 1.48m (4-10.25), respectively. Stephani was also fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.13m (33-03.00). Lana Yeakel was fourth in the long jump at 4.93m (16-02.25), just ahead of her teammate Grace Peyron in fifth with a jump of 4.84m (15-10.50). Bailey Nuutinen was the final top-five finish for the V-Hawks, placing fifth in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.43m (11-03.00). Tess Durscher finished six in the pole vault, with just behind Nuutinen, but at the same mark, qualifying her for nationals. 

The V-Hawks continue their season at the Ripon College Red Hawk Invite on Saturday, February 4.
