Thirteen Top-five Finishes at Meet of the Hearts Makes for a Well-Rounded V-Hawk Performance

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Viterbo University Women's Indoor Track and Field saw a lot of top finishers at the Meet of the Hearts on Saturday, hosted by Carleton College. The V-Hawks had thirteen top-five finishes, including putting six athletes on the podium. 

Breanna Ihde had a great performance from the track, finishing first in the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 26.81 seconds and second in the 55-Meter Dash with a time of 7.43 seconds. Lana Yeakel was right behind her in both events, ending in fourth place in the 55-Meter Dash at 7.48 seconds and third in the 200-Meter Dash at 27.27 seconds.

Both Emma Johnson and Ashley Veronen finished strong in the 55-Meter Hurdles, with Veronen coming in third place with a time of 8.99 seconds and Johnson finishing fifth at 9.32 seconds. Jerica Mueller and Anya Hirsch both competed in the 3K, with Mueller finishing in third at 3:27.60 and Hirsch finishing right behind her in fourth place at 3:29.35. 

In the field events, Miranda Kendall found herself at the top in the high jump with her jump of 1.58 meters. Alexie Stephani finished in fourth place in both the high jump (1.48 meters) and the triple jump (10.24 meters). Maren Gullingsrud had another impressive day in her events, finishing in third in the shot put with a throw of 11.13 meters and fifth in the weight throw (13.16m). 

Next up for the Viterbo Women's Indoor Track and Field team is the NSAA Indoor Championships. The championships will take place next Sunday in Brookings, S.D. Follow the action on viterboathletics.com or by following us on social media.
