DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team on senior day to Olivet Nazarene (IL) 1-0. The V-Hawks fall to 8-8-1 (CCAC 5-5-1) while the Tigers rise to 7-4-6 (CCAC 7-0-4).
A series of fouls would open the match on both sides, Veerle Vriens would grab a save in the 28th minute, before Lauren Wedig would take a header landing wide in the 19th. The V-Hawks would take to the defensive as Vriens would intercept three saves within the 36th minute, followed by a wide shot by Casey Hill heading into the half.
Kelcie Karweick would find a shot on target in the 65th minute, though ONU would reclaim possession taking a shot that Vriens would save. On a penalty kick the Tigers would find the back of the goal in the 75th minute. Senior, Jenna Bennett would take one last corner kick for the V-Hawks as Olivet would dominate control over the ball for the remainder of the match, launching one last shot that Vriens would clinch. Vriens would make 9 saves in the 90 minutes her 90 minutes of play.
The V-Hawks return to action Wednesday November 6th on the road for the conference tournament.
