OMAHA, Neb. - The Viterbo University Women's soccer team fell 2-4 to the Bellevue Bruins in Tuesday afternoon's non-conference matchup. The V-Hawks fall to 7-6-1 while the Bruins rise to 8-4-2.
The V-Hawks would open the match on the defensive, with two shots in the first 10 minutes of the match. In the 43rd minute Jenna Bennet would take the first shot on goal for the V-Hawks followed by one more shot by Ashlee Tupper landing high. The Bruins would capitalize on ball control scoring in the final minute of the half, going up 3-0.
Brooke Clements, taking control of a loose ball finding the back of the net early in the second half. Lauren Wedig would look to score in the 49th minute, landing wide. In a battle for possession Clements would look to score once more, though the Bruin goalkeeper would clinch the save. In the 86th minute Isabel Henry would find Kelcie Karweick on a throw in. Karweick would turn, shoot and score, cutting the lead to 2-4. The V-Hawks continued to fight as they outshot Bellevue 9-3 in the second half but would ultimately fall short.
The V-Hawks return to the pitch Saturday, October 26th as the host St. Francis.
