Viterbo's Match Ends in Draw

Elgin, IL – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team ended 1–1 against Judson University Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks now sit at 5-5-1 (CCAC 2-3-1) while the Eagles sit at 3-3-6 (CCAC 2-1-3).  

Hadley Dammer would take the first shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match that would be saved by Eva Fernandez, the Eagles goalkeeper. In the 12th minute, Alex Little would carry the ball up the sideline and launch a shot towards goal taking an unlucky bounce off the cross bar. Brooke Clements would look to finish the rebound but would have one shot blocked followed by placing the other shot wide. The V-Hawks would continue to dominate possession throughout the first half out shooting the Eagles 10-3.  

Keeping the pressure on the Eagles, Jenna Bennet would take three corners in the first 10 minutes of the half. On the third corner, in the 56th minute Bennet would connect with Clements in the air as she placed the ball for Ellie Hedges to finish giving the V-Hawks a 1-0 lead. But Judson would continue to apply pressure, as Veerle Vriens recorded three saves in the next 18 minutes before the Eagles would take the back of the net, tying the match 1-1. With a last stitch effort, the V-Hawks found Evy Shaw on a breakthrough taking the last shot on goal in the 88th minute which would ultimately be saved.  

The V-Hawks return to action Tuesday, October 15th as tehy host Governer's State University.
