V-Hawks Finish on Top

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team surged to the win over Waldorf University 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The V-Hawks rise to 2-2, while the Warriors fall to  0-5.
 
Brooke Clements would take the first shot on goal for the V-Hawks, setting the tone for the match as Ellie Hedges, and Elle Hager would follow suit three short minutes later. Jenna Bennett would score for the V-Hawks in the 23rd minute setting the V-Hawks up 2-0 over the Warriors. With five minutes remaining in the half Evelyn Shaw from Kelcie Karweick would set VU up to go into the half with a three point lead.
 
Clements would open the second half for Viterbo with a save by WU's Hannah McNeave in the 46th minute. The Warrior's would look to close the gap in the lead by a shot on goal, though Madison Zilm would dive for the save keeping the Warrior's down by three. With 14 minutes left in the match Karweick would set up Hager for the final goal of the game. Hadley Dammer would look to score once more though the clock ran out on a final save for the Warrior's goalkeeper.
 
The V-Hawks took 14 shots on goal by nine different players, Zilm would record one save, while the Warrior's McNeave had 10.
 
The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, September 21 as they travel to UW-Stout for a non-conference match.
