V-Hawks Struggle in 4-0 Loss

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team dropped a nonconference matchup on the road at Clarke University (Iowa) on Tuesday evening. The V-Hawks fall to 0-2-0, while the Pride rise 2-0-1.

Evelyn Shaw would take the first and only shot of the match for the V-Hawks at 17:07, while the Pride would take four of the first five shots of the game, with Veerle Vriens recording one save. Laryssa Pritchard would score the Pride's first goal of the game on a penalty kick.

Madison Zilm took over in the goal and recorded a save in the 12th minute. She recorded three more in the 17th, 19th, and 29th minutes, holding of the Pride going into the half.

Following two swift goals from the V-Hawks, freshman goalkeeper Sophia Brunner would enter the match at 58:00. Casey Hill would take Viterbo's final corner kick, though it wasn't enough for the V-Hawks to capitalize on. In the 83rd minute the Pride's Corryn Wiggins would score the fourth and final goal of the match.

Vriens recorded one save, and Zilm had four.

The V-Hawks return to action on Saturday, August 31 as they host Bethany Lutheran (Minn.).
