V-Hawks Win 3-1 on Senior Day

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team secured a 3-1 victory over Judson University (Ill.) on Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks improve to 4-2-5 (2-1-2 CCAC) while the Eagles fall to 3-5-2 (2-3-1 CCAC).

 Judson took the first two shots of the match, with one being on target but saved by Molly Ripley. Hadley Dammer responded with two straight shots, one saved by Eagles Goalie Eva Fernandez. The keepers traded saves, until Ella Herman put in an unassisted goal at 34:27m giving the V-Hawks a 1-0 advantage into the break.

Joana Mercado took over in the second half for JU, saving Carsen Desens' attempt in the 47th minute. Alex Little landed an attempt on goal five minutes later, but Daisy Garcia evened the match at 56:37. Jenna Bennett's corner found Brooke Clements, who set up Elle Hager to give the lead back to Viterbo. Bennett scored a goal of her own, assisted by Lauren Wedig in the 74th minute to secure the 3-1 victory for the V-Hawks.

Bennett led with four shots, while three other V-Hawks took three. Kelly Leon took sox shots for Judson. Molly Ripley (W, 3-2-2) had six saves, and Mercado had five saves.

The V-Hawks return to action on Wednesday, October 11 at Governors State (Ill.).
