Clements Nets Hat Trick in Dominant Win

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team secured a dominant 8-1 win over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Indiana University-South Bend on Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks improve to 3-1-4 (1-0-0 CCAC), while the Titans fall to 3-5-1 (0-3-0 CCAC).

The V-Hawks would be on the offensive from the very start, as Jenna Bennett had a pair of attempts land on goal in the first seven minutes, followed by on target shots by Brooke Clements and Isabel Henry. Rachel Kinney would put Viterbo on the board in the 32nd minute on a goal assisted by Bennett and Maya Bubbers, and then Kinney would set up Alex Little for another score just two minutes later for the 2-0 lead. Ashlee Tupper made it 3-0 just before half, assisted by Aimee Kemper.

Clements kept the momentum going in the second half with a goal assisted by Little in the 52nd minute. Kemper recorded her second assist of the match at 69:47 to Bennett for the 5-0 advantage, and Clements had her second goal in the 72nd, assisted by Ella Herman. Allesandro Lozano scored on South Bend's only shot of the match in the 75th minute, assisted by Vivianne Garcia. Clements finished the hat trick with a goal just 10 seconds later, assisted by Isabel Henry, and Herman scored the final goal at 85:03, assisted by Casey Hill.

Clements totaled 11 shots with six on goal and three scores for the V-Hawks, Herman took nine shots with three on goal, Tupper had five attempts on target, and Kemper had a pair of assists. Rylee Cotton had 20 saves for the Titans.

The V-Hawks return to action on Wednesday, September 27 as they host Trinity Christian College (Ill.) at 1:00 PM.
