Breuchel Scores Two Goals Defeating UW-Stout

MENOMONIE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team battled University of Wisconsin-Stout and continued their winning streak with a final score of 2-0. The V-Hawks advance to 5-2-1 while the Blue Devils drop to 1-4-1.

The V-Hawks and Blue Devils each had two unsuccessful shots within the first seven minutes of the game. Stout had one more attempt at the goal before the V-Hawks fought hard with four shots, two of which saved by Stout goalie Lily Black. Freshman Grace Breuchel scored her first of two goals at the 41:20 mark. Viterbo goalie Molly Ripley would save one last shot by the Blue Devils before heading into halftime 1-0. 

Within three minutes of the second half, a corner kick by Viterbo led Breuchel to score her second and final goal of the night with an assist by Alex Little. The V-Hawks would attempt four more shots throughout the next 10 minutes but left unsuccessful. Viterbo allowed only two shot attempts by the Blue Devils in the second half and took home the 2-0 win.

Viterbo would outshoot UW-Stout 15-6, including 6-2 on goal. Viterbo took 6 corner kicks while the Blue Devils took 3. Ripley recorded 2 saves playing all 90 minutes of the game. Stout goalies Lily Black and Lily Schield each saved 2 goals, with Black playing the first half and Schield taking the second.

The V-Hawks stay on the road to take on the Morningside University Mustangs in Sioux City, Iowa on September 25 at 1:00 PM CST.
