V-Hawks Shutout Rockford on the Road

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team claimed a 5-0 win at NCAA Division III Rockford University (Ill.) on Thursday night. The V-Hawks improve to 3-2-1 while the Regents drop to 1-2.

Viterbo would control the offense early, getting off two shots before Alex Little dribbled up the right side, and found the net on an unassisted goal in the 12th minute. After seven more shots, though non on goal, from the V-Hawks, Hadley Dammer and Rachel Kinney worked together to set up Kennedy Alves to put VU up 2-0. At the 33:49 mark, Kelcie Karwieck put in the goal on an assist from Grace Breuchel, and the V-Hawks would take a 3-0 into the halftime break.

Viterbo would being the second half with six shots on goal before the 67th minute, when Bruechel and Karwieck would connect again to go up 4-0. Mia Ostler would attempt Rockfords on shot in the game two minutes later, but leave it high. Breuchel would put in a free ball goal with 10 minutes left to extend the V-Hawk advantage to 5-0.

Viterbo would outshoot Rockford 33-1, including 16-0 on goal and take nine of the 10 corner kicks in the game. Madison Williams (1-2) would claim the win, while Elison Elizabeth would collect 11 saves.

The V-Hawks return to action Tuesday, September 14 at Northwestern Minnesota University.
