Mumm earns hat trick, V-Hawks defeat Knights 5-0

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team defeated the Martin Luther College Knights, 5-0, at the Viterbo Outdoor Athletics Complex on Thursday afternoon. The V-Hawk offense continues to impress, having outscored their last three opponents 19-1.

The scoring run started only a minute into the game after Abigail Mumm (JR/Brookfield, Wis.) scored off a pass from Jenna Bennett (FR/Madison, Wis.). Only a few minutes later, history repeated itself, with another Mumm goal from Bennett. Lauren Wedig (FR/Siberia, Russia) was the next V-Hawk to score after the dish from Sydney King (SR/Blue Mounds, Wis.). Alexie Stephani (SO/Blaine, Minn.) scored the final goal of the first half, unassisted, to send the V-Hawks into halftime winning 4-0.

Two goals weren't enough for Abigail Mumm, she earned her hat trick only a couple of minutes into the second half, assisted by Rachel Kinney (FR/Appleton, Wis.). Mumm had seven shots in the game, five of them on goal. The V-Hawk offense outshot Martin Luther 18-4 with nine shots on goal. Goalkeepers Bergen Beversdorf (FR/Stevens Point, Wis.) and Anna Becker (FR/Stavrapol, Russia) earned the shutout victory in the net for the V-Hawks.
