LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Viterbo University women's soccer (10-2) team lost to Thomas University (Ga.) in the semifinal game of the 2020-21 Association of Independent Institutions Women's Soccer Championship Tournament in Georgia on Friday night.
Thomas got the early lead on the V-Hawks, scoring twice in the opening 30 minutes of the game. The V-Hawks made attempts to score, led by Sydney King (JR/Blue Mounds, Wis.) with two shots, one on goal, and Abigail Mumm (SO/Brookfield, Wis.), Lara Boyum (SR/Kasson, Minn.), Carson Desens, and Josilyn Cordes (FR/Byron, Minn.), each with one shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Abby Breitbach (SR/Oregon, Wis.), had six saves throughout the game, including a pivotal save from a penalty kick attempt in the 63rd minute to keep the V-Hawks within two.
