Women's soccer opens up spring season with big win over No. 20 Trinity Christian

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - The Viterbo University Women's Soccer team opened up the spring portion of their season today against Trinity Christian College. Trinity Christian was ranked No. 20 in the nation coming into today's matchup. Both the V-Hawks and Trinity Christian had one loss each in the fall.

The lone goal of the day came from Viterbo's Abigail Mumm (So. - Brookfield, Wis.) at 30:05, assisted by Sydney King (Jr. - Blue Mounds, Wis.). The V-Hawks had a total of seven shots, five on goal. Mumm contributed four of those shots, with all four being on goal.

Viterbo's goalkeepers were the key to today's match. Abby Breitbach (Sr. - Oregon, Wis.) got injured halfway into the first half and Melissa Lange (So. - Mukwonago, Wis.) stepped up for the V-Hawks. In the second half, Lange had to exit, bringing Breitbach back in to finish the game fighting that injury. However, the goalkeepers did a fantastic job, defending 20 shots, eight that were on goal. Lange had seven saves and Breitbach had one.

Next up, the V-Hawks will travel to Presentation College on Saturday, March 27 for a 1:00 p.m. game start. Follow the action on our website or by following us on social media.
