
Newbauer Finishes Top Five at Midwest Championships
WAUWATOSA, Wis – The Viterbo University Women's Bowling team competed at the Midwest Collegiate Championships this past weekend. The V-Hawks finished 32 out of 42 teams with a total of 6880 pins, with 4194 coming from team scoring, and 2686 in the baker games.
Mount Mercy University (Iowa) took first place with 8581 pins, 5301 team and 3280 baker, and produced four top 10 finishers of 267 bowlers.
Emily Newbauer, ranked #1 in the country led the V-Hawks with a second-place finish, averaging 217 pins over five games (1085 total).
Holly Santucci followed, taking 118th place with a total of 837 (167.4 average) over five games. Ceri Deacon came in 166th with a total of 622 (155.5 average), while Thea Laffin would take 198th with a total of 479 (159.67 average). Courtney Keller would narrowly beat out teammate Maddie Schwartz taking 206th and 208th, knocking 456 (152 average) and 446 (148.67 average), respectively. Heidi Kloostra was the final V-Hawk to compete, with 269 pins over two games, taking 237th.
